MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Golden Eagle track & field team completed their second day of action at the 2022 PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, with Clarion ranking 11
th in the field with 11 points. The final day of action will kick off in Millersville on Saturday.
Jenna Uncapher improved on what was already one of the top-three Heptathlon performances in the history of the Golden Eagle program, hitting a PR with a final score of 4,253. She hit marks of 4.99m in the Long Jump and 30.62m in the in the Javelin, coming in seventh and sixth respectively in those events. She saved her best performance in the Heptathlon for the final event, placing second in the 800m with a time of 2:25.95. That represented Uncapher's best time ever in the 800m, and locked up a fourth-place overall finish in the Heptathlon.
Also competing in the Heptathlon was
Leah Perry, who finished just outside the scoring with a 10
th-place mark of 3,671. She took 11
th place in the Long Jump with a mark of 4.73m, and finished the Javelin with a mark of 21.90m. Perry rounded out her appearance in the Heptathlon with a time of 2:43.54 in the 800m.
The Golden Eagles dominated the podium in the 3000m Steeplechase, with
Abby Sullivan,
Haley Schaller and
Gabby Kutchma all earning spots in the top-eight. Sullivan was the top finisher for Clarion in the event, taking sixth with a time of 11:41.10 for the best time of her career. Schaller placed seventh, finishing in 11:42.45, while Kutchma took eighth with a mark of 11:43.74.
In the 800m, the duo of
Alice Fernald and
Mackenzie Carver finished within four-hundredths of a second of one another, taking 10
th and 11
th respectively in the event. Fernald ran the best 800m time of her career, finishing in 2:20.28, while Caver came in at 2:20.32.
Emma Pesicka came up just short of scoring in the Discus, tossing the implement 39.08m to come in just short of her PR and place 10
th overall.
Rounding out the day for the Golden Eagles was the 4x100m Relay Team of
Antonia Fenice,
Emily Lodge,
Delaney Beard and
Kaylen Sharrow. They took 12
th in the event with a time of 50.84.
