CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagle women's golf team finished up their first tournament of the 2022-23 season on Tuesday, finishing in ninth place at the Charleston Invitational at Edgewood Country Club. Clarion shot a team score of 361 on Tuesday, giving them a two-day score of 712 at the tournament.
McLain Alt shot the best round of her collegiate career, carding a score of 94 that put her in the top-four on the team. She sprinkled eight pars through her round, including five straight on the back nine, to card her career-low score.
The lowest round of the day belonged to
Hailee Liptak, with the freshman shooting an 88. She birdied Nos. 18 and six to break the 90-stroke mark for the second straight day. That put her in sole possession of 32
nd place.
Samantha Huth was the top finisher for the weekend for Clarion, shooting a 90 on Tuesday to lock in a two-day score of 171 and tie for 30
th. Huth birdied No. 9.
Sylvia Stibley was just one stroke ahead of her for the day and three behind her for the tournament, carding an 89 in the second round.
