LEWISBURG, Pa. --- Shelly Jones shattered the program record in the indoor Shot Put with one of the best throws in the PSAC thus far this season, highlighting an exciting first day at the Bison Open and Multi hosted by Bucknell.
 
The senior thrower was remarkable in the Shot Put on Friday night, breaking her own previous best on three of her six throws and topping the previous program record on those three as well. Jones' second attempt of the day was her best, though, as she tossed the implement 13.64m. That blew away the previous indoor school record of 13.07m set by Kari Steuer in 2018, and was nearly three-quarters of a meter further than Jones' previous PR of 12.96m set earlier this year at Youngstown State.
 
Jones' terrific toss highlighted what was otherwise a strong day in the field in Lewisburg. Leah Perry placed fourth in the Pentathlon Blue event, finishing third in two of the sub-events and fifth in another to score 2624 points. She started her day with a 10.07 in the 60H and then cleared 1.46m in the High Jump, putting her in fourth after two events. Her performance in the Long Jump cemented her fourth-place finish in the 10-athlete field, with Perry recording a mark of 4.86m.
