BLOOMSBURG, Pa. --- After three weeks away from competition the Golden Eagle cross country team will be back in action for the 2023 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships, hosted this year in Bloomsburg on Saturday, October 21. The women's 6k race will begin at 10 a.m.
Â
The Golden Eagles ranked among the top teams in the NCAA Atlantic Region at one point of the season, ranking 10
th in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional poll in September. Since then the team has competed only twice, though, at the LHU Invitational and the Paul Brown Run.
Â
Throughout the year the Golden Eagles have been paced by senior
Mackenzie Carver, winner of the Westminster Fisher Invite and consistently the top finisher on the team. An all-region honoree during the track & field season, Carver most recently placed 10
th in the White race at the Paul Short Run, on Sept. 30. Fellow upperclassmen
Allison Farson,
Gabby Kutchma and
Caleigh Aigler will provide a veteran presence on the starting line for Clarion, while freshmen
Cheyenne Mehl,
Emmy Davis and
Paige Brewer will make their first appearances at the conference championships.
Â
Clarion placed ninth at last year's Championship, with Farson pacing the field with a time of 23:51.4 to take 27
th overall. Kutchma was just one spot behind her, taking 28
th with a time of 28:55.0.
