Clarion, Pa.--- The Golden Eagles men's swimming and diving team hosted their first swim meet of the year, defeating Allegheny 196-12. Clarion boasted the top finisher in all 11 events and, in most circumstances, had the top three finishers.
Things got off to a hot start, with the Golden Eagles sweeping the top three spots in the 200-meter Medley Relay. The winning quartet of Clarion featured Dominic Cortopassi, Gavin Guckavan, Henry Miller, and Connor Cary, who raced to a time of 1:35.78, three seconds faster than the next group.
Clarion would see the winning continue as David Bocci paced the field in the 200 Free, with a time of 1:45.25. Austin Prokopec took home the top spot in the 50-yard Free with Mason Peck finishing right behind him with a time of 22.54. Clarion would take the top three spots in the 200 IM, with Connor Cary being the first Golden Eagle to touch the wall with a time of 1:57.23, two seconds ahead of Henry Miller.
In the 100 Fly, an event that featured only the Golden Eagles, David Bocci came out on top with a time of 51.07, quickly followed by Cortopassi, who finished with a time of 51.66. In the very next event, the Golden Eagles finished with the top three finishers seeing Ryan Ehlers touching the wall first.
In the 100 Back, Aiden Mohren narrowly edged out teammate Austin Prokopec, finishing with times of 55.54 and 55.77, just a .23 difference. Sophomore Mason Peck took the top spot in the 500 Free, finishing the distance race in 5:09.56. To finish the day, the Golden Eagles finished with the top two spots in the 200 Free Relay, with the first quartet of Cary,  Miller, Bocci, and  Prokopec finishing four seconds before the next group raced out to a time of 1:26.60.
The diving team also had a successful day, in which Michael Flamm was able to secure an NCAA pre-qualifying score of 486.38 on the 3M dive. In the 1M dive, junior Zach Schering earned the top spot for the day with a 273.98.
