Clarion, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles women's swimming and diving came out victorious in their final home dual meet of the 2023 calendar year, beating Bloomsburg by a score of 193-85 in Tippin Natatorium.
Clarion swimmers won 10 swimming events, including a pool record set by Hannah Greenway in the 50 Free. The junior touched the wall in a time of 23.64 to pace the field.
The Golden Eagles started the night with the top two finishes in the 400-meter Medley relay. The quartet of Maria Wold, Ava Rosely, Hannah Greenway, and Amanda Fetsko dominated the event with a time of 3:33.81, touching the wall 34 seconds before Clarion's second-place quartet. The long distance 1000 Free saw another pair of Golden Eagles in the top two, with freshman Allison McMurray pacing the field with a time of 11:11.11, followed by fellow freshman Sarah Grimenstein, who finished with a time of 11:21.14.
Clarion continued the trend of top-two finishes in the 200 Free, with Joslyn Jurski and Fetsko taking the top two spots with times of 1:56.64 and 1:59.46. Next, the 100 Breast would see Rosely touching the wall in 1:10.05, squeaking past teammate Maddy McTeer by just .61 of a second. Wold would finish with two individual victories, first in the 200 Back finishing with a time of 2:10.67, then a few events later, she would cruise to victory in the 200 IM, touching the wall four seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
In the 200 Breast, Emma Dorsey came out on top, finishing her heat with a time of 2:34.36. The next event was another distance event, which saw Jurski come out victorious in the 500 Free, pulling away late in the race. Greenway would close out the Golden Eagles winning ways with a victory in the 100 Fly, finishing with a sub-minute time of 59:47.
The Clarion diving team was back in action, with Luna Castellanos winning both the one- and three-meter dives and finishing with identical scores of 277.88.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action next Friday as they travel to Ohio for a dual meet against Ashland University.
