ASHLAND, Ohio --- Clarion's women's swimming and diving team was back in action on Friday evening, with the Golden Eagle winning their fifth straight dual meet with a 143-60 decision over Ashland.
The Golden Eagles would start the night with the top two finishers in the 200 Medley Relay, with the "A" quartet defeating the "B" quartet by over three seconds, finishing with times of 1:51.37 and 1:54.75 respectively. The 1000-Free would also see Clarion finish in first and second, with Joslyn Jurski pacing the competition by over 28 seconds, touching the wall in 10:51.97/ Freshman Allison McMurray was just behind her in second place, finishing with 11:20.77.
In the 200 Free, Clarion would sweep the podium positions, with Jordan Kutchak, Maria Wold, and Corina Paszek taking the top spots and completing the heat in 2:02.61, 2:03.12, and 2:04.92, respectively. The quick dash of the 50-Free would see Madelynn McTeer touch the wall in 25.47, just edging out teammate Amanda Fetsko by .15 seconds. In the 100 Free, the two would reverse finishes as Fetsko would touch the wall before McTeer. The 100 Fly would also see Golden Eagle teammates place in the top two with tight finishes, as Michaela Hinkson won the heat, touching the wall in 1:00.54, just .44 seconds before Emma Dorsey finished.
Clarion would round out the meet with two more victories, one in the 100 Breast and another in the 200 Freestyle relay. McTeer trailed after the first lap of the 100 Breast but would come from behind to touch the wall .17 seconds faster than Ashland's Paige Nicholson. The "A" quartet of Hannah Greenway, Haley Miller, Fetsko, and Jurski outpaced the "B" quartet of Zoey Beck, Ava Rosely, Wold, and Kutchak, finishing with the top two times of 1:40.41 and 1:42.48.
The Clarion women's swimming and diving team will be back in action when they travel to Akron for the multi-day Zippy Invitational on November 30th.
