Track & Field Competes at SPIRE Collegiate Indoor Games

GENEVA, Ohio --- The Golden Eagle track & field team headed to their third meet in as many weeks, performing well at the SPIRE Collegiate Indoor Games on Saturday.

Mackenzie Carver recorded a season-best time in the 800m, as well as the best indoor 800m of her career. The junior took eighth in the field with a time of 2:17.99, making her the highest-placing non-Division I athlete in the field of 56 athletes. That also represented the best finish for any Golden Eagle in a track event on Saturday, though fellow distance runner Addie LaBombard placed 11th in the 5000m with a time of 19:19.03.

Another distance runner, sophomore Gabby Kutchma, notched a PSAC qualifying time in the 3000m. Kutchma crossed the finish line in a time of 10:33.58, a new PR for the Golden Eagle harrier and well below the conference's threshold of 10:48.53.

In the field, Shelly Jones placed seventh in the loaded 35-athlete event with a mark of 13.31m. Emma Pesicka placed 16th in the Shot Put with a season-best mark of 11.71m, just 0.09m shy of hitting a PSAC qualifying mark.

Also just missing out on a conference qualifying score in a field event was Delaney Beard, whose 5.12m mark in the Long Jump represented a new PR. Beard took 18th in the event. She did go on to record an impressive top-10 finish in the Triple Jump, placing 10th with a mark of 11.03m. Rounding out the jumping events was Sadie Leisinger, who placed 13th in the High Jump with a 1.50m leap that was fifth among non-Division I competition.

Finally, the Distance Medley Relay team recorded a third-place finish with a time of 13:29.17.
