GROVE CITY, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle men's golf team returned to action after a short layoff on Thursday, logging a third-place finish at the MBA Invitational hosted by Grove City College. Clarion golfers carded a team score of 310 in one round of action, just four strokes behind PSAC competitor California (Pa.)'s second place score.
Dealing with cold and breezy conditions early in the day, the Golden Eagles overcame the elements to card three rounds under 80 on the day. Joey Vitali and Ryan Robinson led Clarion and tied for third overall in the field with identical scores of 75. Vitali tallied two birdies on the day, including one on the par-4 14th hole, while Robinson birdied a pair of par-4s, doing so on the 6th and 12th holes.
Rounding out the top scores on the day was Will Meyer, who tied for 10th in the field after shooting birdie on four straight holes. He fired under par on holes 15 through 18 – two par-4s and two par-5s – to finish with a score of 35 on the back nine and a 77 overall.
Hunter Woodward closed out the scoring for the Golden Eagles, tying for 28th overall with a score of 83.
