Carver Takes 1st, Leads XC at Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. --- Mackenzie Carver paced the field of 58 for a first-place finish on Friday, helping the Golden Eagle cross country team to a big second-place finish at the Fisher Invite hosted by Westminster. Clarion finished second only to Division I Robert Morris, with three top-10 finishers and four in the top-14.

Carver took the lead not only among her teammates but among the entire assembled field, finishing the 5K race with a time of 18:52.55. That put her ahead of Robert Morris's Franny Kabana, who was more than four seconds behind her at 18:56.92. The senior is coming off a strong track & field season in 2023, when she was a United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region selection in the 800m.

A strong team finish demands contributions from across the board, though, and the Golden Eagles had that as well. Junior Allison Farson placed eighth in the field, crossing the finish line in 20:00.85 to put her fifth among non-Division II competitors. Freshman Paige Brewer was 10th overall and third on the Golden Eagles, finishing in 20:39.80. Emmy Davis was the fourth Clarion harrier to place in the top-14, taking 14th with a time of 21:14.90.

Caleigh Aigler placed fifth on the team to round out the scoring, crossing the line in 22:07.30. Amanda McCoy and Kayla Page provided the displacement spots in the top-seven.
