LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) announced their football weekly awards on Tuesday afternoon. Clarion punter
Tyler Wilson earned the first PSAC West Special Teams Athlete of the Week award for his performance in the Golden Eagles' win over Lincoln.
Â
Wilson helped the Golden Eagles win the field position battle with the Lions, and even directly aided in their second touchdown of the game with his exceptional punting. He punted six times for a 39.7 yards per kick average, depositing four kicks inside the 20-yard line without a touchback.
Â
His biggest kick of the game was his very first, when he pinned the Lions deep in their own end. Wilson launched a 60-yard punt that was downed at the Lincoln one-yard line, and on the very next play Lions quarterback Isaiah Simmons fumbled in his own end zone, with
Brady McKee falling on the ball for a Clarion touchdown. That gave the Golden Eagles a 14-0 lead, and Clarion went on to win by a 30-20 score.
Â
Clarion will be back in action this weekend when they host their 2023 home opener against Bloomsburg. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 9.
