Cross Country Takes 11th at CMU Invitational

PITTSBURGH, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles cross country team finished in a tight pack on Saturday morning, pushing Clarion to an 11th-place finish at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. The first four Golden Eagles to cross the finish line did so within 37 seconds of one another, with the top two separated by just one-tenth of a second.
 
Abigail Butera was the top finisher for the Golden Eagles, taking 42nd overall with a time fo 20:32.1. That was just fractions of a second ahead of her teammate Jessica Shelderfer, who crossed the finish line in a time of 20:32.2 for a 43rd-place finish.
 
Not far behind that pairing was sophomore Cheyenne Mehl, whoe came up just eight places behind Shelderfer and 51st overall. Mehl finished with a time fo 20:49.1, making her one of three Golden Eagles to finish the 5K course in less than 21 minutes. Allison Farson was fourth on the team and 60th overall, crossing the line in 21:09.1 Chesnee Williams wrapped up the scoring in the top-five, taking 71st with a time of 22:35.4.
 
Rounding out the field for the Golden Eagles was Caleigh Aigler. The veteran distance runner placed 89th in the field with a time of 22:55.3.
