LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) announced their weekly football award winners on Monday, with Clarion's
Anthony Guercio earning PSAC West Offensive Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season.
Â
Guercio led a 20-point fourth quarter comeback on Saturday, helping the Golden Eagles to a 29-28 win over Edinboro at Memorial Stadium. The redshirt junior quarterback threw for a career-high 372 yards and three touchdown passes and ran for a game-high 88 yards with a score. Clarion rallied from a 28-9 deficit in the fourth quarter with Guercio leading three consecutive touchdown drives. Two of those drives included long passes from Guercio, including a 67-yard touchdown throw to
Ray Jackson and a 68-yard pass to
Trevon Tate that set up Guercio's touchdown run.
Â
This is the second 300-yard passing game of the season for Guercio, and the highest single-game passing output for the Golden Eagles since Connor Simmons threw for 372 yards in a win over Slippery Rock in 2016. He now ranks second in the PSAC in total offense with an average of 293.4 total yards per game, and leads the conference with eight rushing touchdowns.
