CLARION, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles wrestling team determined their season-opening dual lineup and put on an exciting show for the fans in the Blue Gold Wrestle-Offs on Thursday, with Blue topping Gold by a score of 23-15 in Tippin Gymnasium.
 
The annual wrestle-off finals in Tippin Gym mark the first taste of public action for Golden Eagles wrestling fans, and give them a look at those who have earned a starting spot in the dual lineup to start the year. The best contest from that regard came at 184 pounds, with Adrian Gacek and Patrick Cutchember requiring two matches on Thursday night to settle that spot. Gacek won both matches tonight to lock up the spot at 184 pounds, beating Cutchember by 7-2 decision in the first match of the night and by 11-3 major decision in the finale.
 
The most exciting match of the night was the 133-pound bout between Scott Johnson and Mason Prinkey, with the two combining for 34 total points. Johnson put up 22 points but Prinkey kept himself in the match, though Johnson took the lineup spot with a 22-12 major decision.
 
At 125 pounds, freshman Weston PIsarchick finished off his second straight win over Travis Clawson, securing the spot in the lineup. Two other returning Clarion starters earned their way back into the lineup. Kyle Schickel beat Judah Aybar by 8-5 decision at 149 pounds, while Alejandro Herrera-Rondon majored Chandler Ho at 157 pounds. Rounding things out was the 285-pound match, where senior Austin Chapman locked up the spot by beating Lucas Thomas 10-4 for a decision.
