Soccer Defeated at Home by Pitt-Johnstown

Box Score CLARION, Pa. ---  The Golden Eagles soccer team dropped a conference game at home on Wednesday night, with Clarion losing 4-0 to Pitt-Johnstown at Memorial Stadium. The Mountain Cats controlled the flow of the game with a steady offensive attack, outshooting Clarion by a margin of 16-10 overall and 10-4 in shots on goal.

Pitt-Johnstown's Haley Neidig proved a tough matchup for the Golden Eagles' defense, scoring two goals in the first half. Neidig scored her first goal just three minutes into the game, heading in a perfect rainbow pass from MJ Labinjo that got past Sage Sherk. Her second goal came at the 28-minute mark of the first half when she was in the right place at the right time to put in a rebound.

The Golden Eagles' offense tried to respond with a flurry of shots. Marisa Colondrillo and Ciara DiMauro both had two shots during the first half but the Mountain Cats kept Clarion at the perimeter.

Pitt-Johnstown was able to get on the board one more time late in the first half when Lydia Roman took advantage of a Golden Eagle turnover and launched a shot that zipped past the diving Sherk, giving the Mountain Cats a 3-0 advantage.

Clarion ramped up the offensive pressure in the second half, increasing their shot total by four, including more shots on goal. Nicole Brown had the first shot on net for the Golden Eagles at the 21-minute mark of the second half, but it went right into the hands of Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper Emma Morin. Colondrillo followed up with a shot just one minute later, which was also stifled by Morin. Nadia Gil and Paige Brewer both attacked the lower right portion of the goal but could not get the ball past Morin.

Pitt-Johnstown added the finishing touches to their victory with a late goal by Alyssa Shields, who launched a shot from deep in the attacking corner that curled into the net, securing the Mountain Cats' 4-0 victory.
