MORGANTOWN, W.Va. --- Alexa Gonczi and Luna Castellanos both reached the finals while Katie Madigan and Colleen Hudson finished in the top-16 of the 1-Meter Dive, as the Golden Eagles women's swimming & diving team fared well on the opening day of the Mountain Diving Invitational.
 
Competing in a field comprised entirely of Division I competition, the Golden Eagles showed they could hang with the best. Gonczi took third place overall with a score of 245.55 She was consistent throughout her list but saved her best performance for her last dive, scoring 49.40 points on a Forward 1 1/12 Somersault 2 Twist. Meanwhile, Castellanos placed seventh overall with a 232.15, with her best scores coming on her Inward 1 1/12 Somersault Pike and a Forward 2 ½ Somersault Tuck.
 
In the consolations, Madigan placed 12^th overall in the field and fourth in consolation final with a score of 226.05. Hudson took seventh in the consolation field and 15^th overall with a score of 196.40.
