History Lesson
- This will be the fifth trip to the MAC Championships Clarion has made since joining the conference.
- The Golden Eagles have improved their placement in each of their previous four MAC Championships appearances:
- 2020 - 12th
- 2021 - 7th
- 2022 - 5th
- 2023 - 3rd
- • The Golden Eagles have produced three MAC champions in their first four years, with Greg Bulsak winning the 197-pound title in 2020 to become Clarion's first MAC individual champion.
- They have had four other finalists in that time:
- • Last year the Golden Eagles had three total MAC finalists, a first for the program. Of those three, John Worthing returns to this year's tournament at 174 pounds.
- • The Golden Eagles have gone 4-4 in dual matches held on Kent State's campus dating back to 1984, including a 29-6 dual win last season.
This Season
- Clarion finished the regular season with an 8-10 overall record, including a 4-5 record in the MAC.
- Since starting his coaching career with two straight losing seasons, head coach Keith Ferraro's Golden Eagles have finished .500 or better in dual matches in five of the last seven seasons.
- After something of a slow start to the dual match season, the Golden Eagles went on a streak of five straight wins to reach eight dual wins on the year.
- They went 3-0 against MAC opposition in that stretch, beating Bloomsburg, Kent State and Edin boro by an average of 28 points per match.
- Cam Pine reached the finals of the Southern Scuffle, highlighting a trio of Golden Eagles that advanced to at least the quarterfinals of the prestigious tournament.
- Clarion enters the championships with two wrestlers - Alejandro Herrera-Rondon (157) and Cam Pine (184) - ranked in the most recent NCAA Coaches Panel Ranking, as well as in the RPI.
- At one point the Golden Eagles had three wrestlers in the coaches panel ranking, with John Worthing joining Herrera-Rondon and Pine.
- The Golden Eagles have had four MAC East Wrestler of the Week award winners this season - John Meyers (Week 1), Cam Pine (Week 9), John Worthing (Week 10) and Joey Fischer (Week 12).
