MANHEIM, Pa. --- The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) unveiled the recipients of the NCAA Division I Men's Scholar All-America Awards, with four Golden Eagles –
Eli Brinsky,
TJ England,
John Meyers and
Ethan Wiant – earning a spot on this year's team.
"It is a privilege to honor these exceptional athletes for their remarkable accomplishments," said NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer. "Congratulations to all the awardees, and we extend our best wishes for their continued success in their academic and athletic endeavors."
Brinsky (3.97 – Nutrition & Fitness) wrapped his Golden Eagle wrestling career by earning a permanent spot in the starting lineup, going 9-12 overall. He caught fire midway through the season, winning six of his last seven dual matches, including a win by fall over Long Island's James Johnston.
England (3.94 – Marketing & Management) earned a spot in the Clarion starting lineup early in the year, finishing with a 9-14 overall record in 2023-24. The junior was an important part of a number of dual wins, including a 3-0 run during a quad with Kent State, Long Island and Morgan State.
Meyers (4.00 – Integrated Business) asserted himself as the Golden Eagles' starter at 285 pounds, and was the team's first Mid-American Conference (MAC) East Wrestler of the Week this past season after reaching the finals of the Clarion Open. He closed the year with a 10-14 record, in his first year with the program.
Wiant (3.61 – Nutrition & Fitness) was the Golden Eagles' year-long starter at 197 pounds, and closed his season with a pair of wins at the MAC Championships in the consolation bracket. The junior was part of a couple of conference dual wins this year, contributing directly to victories over George Mason and Bloomsburg.
