2024 academic all district mens at large honorees

Three Golden Eagles Earn Men's At-Large AAD Honors

CLARION, Pa. --- The College Sports Communicators announced their 2023-24 Men's At-Large Academic All-District honorees on Tuesday. Three Golden Eagles student-athletes – wrestlers Eli Brinsky and Ethan Wiant, and men's golfer Will Meyer – earned a spot on the prestigious list.

To qualify for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore both athletically and academically, must maintain at least a 3.50 grade point average, and must have competed in at least 70 percent of team scoring events during the season.

Brinsky (3.97 – Nutrition & Fitness) wrapped his Golden Eagle wrestling career by earning a permanent spot in the starting lineup, going 9-12 overall. He caught fire midway through the season, winning six of his last seven dual matches, including a win by fall over Long Island's James Johnston.

Wiant (3.60 – Nutrition & Fitness) was the Golden Eagles' year-long starter at 197 pounds, and closed his season with a pair of wins at the MAC Championships in the consolation bracket. The junior was part of a couple of conference dual wins this year, contributing directly to victories over George Mason and Bloomsburg.

Meyer (3.76 – Finance) was the top player for the Golden Eagles for much of the 2023-24 season, and was their best finisher at the 2023 PSAC Men's Golf Championship in the fall. Meyer improved by 18 positions on the leaderboard on the final day with a third-round score of 74, putting him in 22nd place in the field.
