RECAP: The dual between the Golden Eagles and the Cougars started as a back and forth affair, with the teams splitting the first four bouts to tie the score at 6-6.
John Worthing returned to action for Clarion and logged a close win in sudden victory, beating Luke Odom by a 4-1 score. Odom nearly got the better of Worthing with a shot in the sudden victory period, but Worthing contorted himself to turn the tables on Odom and take him down.
Â
Austin Chapman won his second straight decision in tiebreakers to follow up Worthing's performance, beating Bryson Buhk by a 2-1 score. After nine minutes of wrestling and a 1-1 tie, Chapman put a hard ride on Buhk in the first tiebreaker, staying on top for all 30 seconds. Chapman elected to start the next session in neutral, fighting off shots by Buhk to hold on for the riding time advantage and the win.
Â
Drew Davis beat
Travis Clawson at 125 pounds to give the Cougars a 9-6 match advantage, though Clawson applied a tough ride in the third period to claim the riding time point and very nearly turned Davis for a near fall that would have reversed the result. SIUE stamped their advantage for good with wins in the next two matches, with Marcel Lopez winning by third period fall over
Mason Prinkey and Danny Martinez scoring a major decision over
Gianni Silvestri.
Â
Rounding out Clarion's wins against the Cougars was
Wesley Barnes, who took the final bout of the dual against Bradley Gillum. Barnes had the only takedown of the match at 165 pounds, beating Gillum in a 4-2 decision.

RECAP: The Tigers were dominant in their win over the Golden Eagles in the second dual of the day, winning nine of the 10 bouts on the mat and seven by bonus points. Princeton opened the match with three straight technical falls to take a 15-0 lead before Chapman came up just a hair short at heavyweight, losing by a 2-0 score to Sebastian Garibaldi after the latter employed a strong ride in the third period.
Â
Clarion's lone match win against the Tigers came at 141 pounds, where
Gianni Silvestri beat Joseph Davi by an 8-4 decision. Trailing 4-1 late in the second period, Silvestri worked Davi for a takedown just before the buzzer to tie the bout at 4-4. He escaped to open the third period and take a 5-4 advantage, and with 33 seconds remaining ducked behind Davi to counter a shot and take him down for the final score of the bout.
Â
Princeton clinched the win in the second dual in the bout just before Silvestri's, when Dan Jones scored one of two wins by fall for the Tigers in the match.
