RECAP: The Golden Eagles won six of the 10 duals contested against the Golden Flashes, with three of those results coming with bonus points attached to make the outcome more lopsided. Starting things off was 125-pounder
Travis Clawson, who scored his second straight win by major decision to open the match. He beat Tyeler Hagensen 12-4, outscoring Hagensen 7-2 in the second period after a scoreless first.
Â
Kent State won the next two bouts by decision to briefly take the lead in the dual, but it was the last time the Golden Flashes held the edge.
Kyle Schickel beat Nate Roth by a 9-5 decision to put Clarion ahead 7-6, and
Judah Aybar permanently turned the tide of the match in the 157-pound bout. Wrestling from the bottom position in the third period, Aybar dumped Dominic Paterra over his back for a reversal, and then locked him up for a fall with 15 seconds left on the clock to give the Golden Eagles a 13-6 edge.
Â
Brady Worthing tacked on a decision over Waylon Wehler at 174 pounds, winning by a 3-1 score, and
Adrian Gacek majored Trent Thomas by a 9-1 score to give the Golden Eagles a significant edge.
Austin Chapman closed out the effort with a 4-1 decision over Brentan Simmerman.

RECAP: It came down to the final bout of the day, but the Golden Eagles clinched the dual win over the Sharks with
Austin Chapman's dominant major decision over Christopher Powell. With the team dual tied at 15 points apiece, Chapman worked Powell for takedown after takedown in the 285-pound match, racking up points and putting the outcome out of question. It was the third time this season Chapman scored 16 or more points in match.
Â
Though Chapman did a good job of taking the drama out of the match, there was plenty to go around early. Clarion ultimately won six of the bouts on Sunday but until the final match the only bonus points belonged to LIU, with the Sharks winning by fall at 157 pounds. The Golden Eagles won three straight bouts to start the afternoon match, with Clawson opening things up with his second win of the day. He beat Robert Sagaris by a 4-2 decision, and
Mason Prinkey and
Gianni Silvestri added decisions over their own in the next two to make it a 9-0 lead.
Â
That advantage quickly evaporated as the Sharks won the next three matches, going ahead 12-9 after Anthony Ferrari's decision at 165 pounds.
Wesley Barnes stopped the bleeding for Clarion with a tight 2-1 win by decision over Blake Bahna, and
Ethan Wiant gave his team the chance to win the dual with a 7-1 decision over Corey Connolly at 197 pounds.
