EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles football team's 2025 season came to a close on Saturday afternoon, as Clarion dropped a 42-34 road decision to East Stroudsburg in the final game of the year. Clarion got off to a lead in the first half but the Warriors battled back, taking the lead with just over two minutes to go.

As has been the case for most of the season, the first half of the game saw the Golden Eagles explode for more than 300 yards of total offense and 27 points, and despite giving up two first quarter touchdowns to the Warriors led by 13 points heading into the halftime break. Clarion was ahead 34-21 after three quarters of play but East Stroudsburg found the end zone three times in the final quarter, including a 19-yard touchdown run by Harrison Susi with 2:37 left to play that made it 42-34.

Clarion took control of the ball on their own 25-yard line on their final drive of the game, reaching the 44-yard line after
Holt Egan drew a pass interference call downfield.
Anthony Guercio was sacked on back to back plays to make it 4
th and long, and the Golden Eagles failed to convert to essentially wrap the game.

Guercio wrapped his accomplished Clarion career with four more touchdowns, throwing for three and rushing in for one. The redshirt senior went 27 of 39 for 266 yards, three scores and one pick, giving him a career high 19 passing scores on the year. With 37 touchdown passes, Guercio finishes his career tied for seventh on the program's all-time passing touchdown list with Pat Carbol and Doug Emminger. His 23 career rushing touchdowns are tied for fourth all-time with Elton Brown.

The Golden Eagles tied the game at 7-7 after an 11-play, 75-yard touchdown drive on their first possession of the game, with Guercio hitting
Ja'Tawn Williams for a 20-yard strike in the middle of the field. Guercio orchestrated another long touchdown drive on Clarion's second possession, this time calling his own number and winning a footrace to the right pylon from four yards out to make it 14-14.

The defense got a stop on the subsequent possession and the Golden Eagles took the lead upon getting the ball back, with
Aaran Randolph breaking off a 26-yard run to spark the offense.
Khalon Simmons scored his 13
th touchdown of the season, tying him for fourth in a single season in rushing touchdowns, and Guercio wrapped the half with a touchdown pass to
Holt Egan with 21 seconds left in the half. A blocked extra point made it a 27-14 lead for Clarion.

The teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter to keep it a 13-point game. Guercio found
Davon Jones for his 10
th touchdown of the season, making it 34-21, but the Warriors responded with three touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The final straw came with 2:37 left to play, when Harrison Susi broke off a touchdown run from 19 yards out to make it 42-34.

Griffin Buzzell recorded eight tackles, pushing up to 327 for his career and giving him seventh place on the program's career tackles list.
Mathew McGregor logged 1.5 sacks. Williams caught eight passes for 89 yards.
