CLARION, Pa. – The Golden Eagles Soccer team will play in their first PSAC Conference Tournament game in program history on Saturday, when they face the Edinboro Fighting Scots in Edinboro. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
Clarion saw a significant jump on the offensive side of the pitch in
Jason Edwards' third season at the helm. After scoring just eight goals the previous season, the Golden Eagles surged to 23 goals this season. This is the best improvement in the conference at +187.5 percent, or nearly triple.
This matchup features two of the top goal scorers in the PSAC.
Ciara DiMauro ranks tied for seventh in the league with eight goals, capping off a record-breaking season in which she set both the single-season goal record (8) and the career points record (20). Across from her is Edinboro's Jada Cole, whose 10 goals rank tied for fifth in the conference.
On the defensive side,
Sage Sherk helped keep Clarion competitive throughout the year, recording 92 saves on 241 shots faced. Supporting DiMauro's offensive production were
Marisa Colondrillo,
Paige Brewer, and
Lexi Shattahi. Colondrillo added three goals, while Brewer and Shattahi each contributed two.
Evelyn Cook and
Hailey Dobb also played key roles in setting up scoring chances, recording three and two assists.
In this season's matchups with the Fighting Scots, Clarion went 0-1-1 and was able to obtain a draw in the latest matchup to clinch a playoff berth. In each of the matchups, they were able to score a goal in each game. The program's only win over the Fighting Scots came in 2022 with a 1–0 victory at Memorial Stadium.
