KUTZTOWN, Pa. — Clarion (6-3, 1-2 PSAC) fell to Kutztown (4-4, 1-1 PSAC), 76-49, at Keystone Arena on Saturday. The Golden Eagles trailed by single digits late in the third quarter but the Golden Bears pulled away with a strong fourth quarter.
Zoé Bayer scored nine points and recorded two steals.
Arianna Seitz also tallied nine points and contributed defensively with two blocks.
Alyssa Terza was active on the boards, collecting nine rebounds while adding four steals.
Dominika Logue contributed eight points and matched her defensive efforts with two blocks and two steals.
Clarion opened the game with a steady approach, finding their rhythm through key plays. Seitz hit a jumper at 7:45 to put the Golden Eagles on the board, and
Madison Palek's jumper at 7:04 narrowed the gap to four points. The team continued their effort with Logue hitting a 3-pointer at 6:02, tying the game at 9. Defensively, Clarion was active, with Seitz contributing a block at 8:20. Despite these efforts, the Golden Bears managed to edge ahead with a late layup, concluding the quarter with a 16–13 lead over the Golden Eagles.
Clarion faced a challenging second quarter as they struggled with turnovers, committing nine, which hindered their ability to sustain momentum. Terza provided a bright spot by hitting a 3-pointer at 7:44, helped by an assist from Logue, reducing the deficit momentarily. Despite these efforts, Clarion was unable to capitalize on their opportunities, allowing the Golden Bears to extend their lead. The quarter concluded with Clarion trailing 33–22 as both teams headed into the break.
The Golden Eagles made a strong push in the third quarter, narrowing the gap with a series of key plays. Seitz's fast-break 3-pointer at 8:22 sparked the momentum, and Bayer added to it with a transition layup at 6:31. Logue was instrumental in keeping the pressure on, converting two free throws and a 3-pointer, pulling Clarion closer to their opponents.
Despite the effort, the Golden Bears responded with steady scoring, including a 3-pointer by Kitty Randa with 13 seconds remaining, keeping the Golden Eagles at bay. The quarter ended with Clarion trailing 51–39 after a competitive stretch, setting up a final push.
In the fourth quarter, the Golden Eagles attempted to close the gap with an early burst, highlighted by Seitz's layup at 9:41, assisted by
Niah Smedley. However, the Golden Bears' consistent scoring and defensive pressure maintained their advantage, extending the lead despite Clarion's efforts.
