LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced their weekly women's basketball award winners on Monday. Clarion's Zoé Bayer earned PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week honors for Dec. 8.
Bayer led the Golden Eagles to a pair of wins last week, including their first conference win of the season, to improve to 6-0 overall. The junior guard averaged 18.0 points, 5.0 assists and 6.5 steals per game, and shot 12 of 26 (.462) from the field. In the win over Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday she logged 22 points, nine steals and six assists, with the steals mark tying for third in a single game in program history. She followed up with 14 points, five boards and four assists in a comeback win over the Marauders.
For the season, Bayer is averaging 10.3 points, 4.7 assists and 3.5 steals per game, primarily coming off the bench. She is shooting 23-of-51 (.451) from the field.
