Football Welcomes 37 on National Signing Day

CLARION, Pa. --- Golden Eagles head football coach Raymond Monica celebrated National Signing Day by announcing the addition of 37 student-athletes – eight mid-year transfers and 29 incoming freshmen – to the Clarion football program.

"We're very excited to welcome these young men to our program and get them on the football field," Monica said. "We feel like we've been able to assemble a quality group of student-athletes that will represent our university well."

"Of course I have to thank the hard work of the entire coaching staff and our administration to help make this class possible, and I want to thank everyone on campus and in the community that made them feel at home here," Monica said.

This year's incoming class is heavy on in-state additions, with 32 of the 37 athletes hailing from the state of Pennsylvania. Three more come from northeast Ohio while two others come from the New York City area.

From a positional standpoint, the Golden Eagles added the beef – figuratively and literally – on the defensive line, with 10 incoming players on the front. Six defensive backs and five wide receivers come in, with those three positions making up 21 of the 37 players brought in.
