Saturday's match will be one for the birds – birds of prey, that is – as the Clarion Golden Eagles host MAC rival the Lock Haven Bald Eagles (Feb. 8). Start time is at 7:00 p.m. in Waldo S. Tippin Gymnasium.
Clarion at a Glance
Clarion is coming off a 30-8 loss to Michigan State (Feb. 2), dropping the Golden Eagles record to 3-10. The two Clarion wins in that match came courtesy of freshmen
Travis Clawson and
Gianni Silvestri, both of whom have been on tears as of late. Clawson, the Golden Eagles' 125-pounder, has won four straight, recording major decisions in three. During his run, Clawson has outscored opponents 41-11. Silvestri, in the line-up at 141 pounds, has won four of his last five. He scored his first bonus-point victory of the season against Michigan State.
Golden Eagles with winning records this season are
John Worthing (17-5),
Kyle Schickel (17-12),
Austin Chapman (15-2), and
Ethan Wiant (13-11).
Worthing, ranked 32nd at 174 pounds in the most recent NCAA Coaches poll (Jan. 23), last wrestled on Jan. 19 against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, winning in sudden victory during the first match of that dual. His brother,
Brady Worthing, has most recently filled John's spot in the line-up.
Clarion is 0-7 at home and 2-3 in its last five outings. The Golden Eagles are 2-4 in the MAC.

Clarion vs. Lock Haven
This will be the 55th meeting between the two programs, Lock Haven holding a 29-24-2 advantage. The two sides first met in 1968, the Bald Eagles winning, 25-13. Lock Haven has gone 3-2 in the past five meetings. Since 2019, neither team has managed to put together two consecutive victories or win on the road. The Bald Eagles, winners a season ago, 25-16, will be trying to make it two straight against the Golden Eagles and win as the away team Sunday.
