Diving Finishes Regular Season at PA D-II Last Chance

CLARION, Pa. --- Zakary Kennedy set a new pool record in the 3-Meter six-dive list on Saturday, as the divers of the Golden Eagles swimming & diving teams wrapped up their regular season at the PA D-II Last Chance in Tippin Natatorium.
 
Kennedy led all competitors in the six-dive list on the 3-meter board, consistently putting up the top score in the field of 10 divers. He cracked the 60-point barrier twice on his list, scoring 67.20 points on a Reverse 2 ½ Somersault Tuck and a 64.40 on a Forward 3 ½ Somersault Tuck. In total he scored 341.90, setting a new pool record in the process.
 
Jack Beattie took third in the six-dive list on the 3-meter board and then went on to win the 11-dive list, scoring 481.00. That put him just a few points ahead of IUP's Jeremiah Laslavic, who scored a 479.45.
 
Kennedy also won the six-dive event on the 1-meter board, putting up a total of 314.6 that just narrowly edged out Corwin Lindeman, who finished with 311.75. Michael Flamm was third in that group with a score of 293.5. Lindeman went on to win the 11-dive event on the low board, scoring 480.7 to just narrowly beat Kennedy's 478.75.
 
On the women's side, Katie Madigan and Alexa Gonczi split the four events, with Madigan winning the six-dive event on the 3-meter board and the 11-dive event on the 1-meter board. Conversely, Gonczi won the six-dive event on the 1-meter board and the 11-dive event on the 3-meter board.
 
Gonczi started the day off with a 268.05 through six dives on the 1-meter board, putting up her best score of the round on her final dive. She logged a 49.40 on a Forward 1 ½ Somersault Twist Free to clinch the top spot in the round, followed by Madigan's 259.7 and Colleen Hudson's 250.6. Madigan went on to win the 11-dive event with a score of 427.4, followed by Taelyn Thomas with a 400.6.
 
On the 3-meter board, Madigan outscored the field through six dives with a score of 302.3. That included a high score of 58.80 on a Back 1 ½ Somersault 2 ½ Twist Free. Gonczi led the way in the 11-dive list with a score of 491.6, just edging out Madigan's score of 487.25. That included an identical score of 58.80 on a Back 1 ½ Somersault 2 ½ Twist Free.
