Castellanos Named D-II Diver of the Year

CLARION, Pa. --- For the second time in her career, Luna Castellanos was named the Division II Women's Diver of the Year by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America. Castellanos previously won the award at the conclusion of the 2023 season.

Castellanos continued her storied career in the Blue & Gold with a national title sweep in 2025, winning the 1-Meter and 3-Meter Dive championships in Indianapolis last week. In the process of the latter she posted a score of 542.55, breaking the school record of 539.35 set by Clarion Sports Hall of Famer Kristin Day in 2014. Day's record had previously been the record at the national meet.

The win marked Castellanos' second national championship of the season and the fourth of her stellar career, catapulting her into truly elite company with the Golden Eagle women's swimming & diving program and thus nationally as well. She joins Jamie Wolf, Kayla Kelosky and Stephanie Sutton as the only Golden Eagle women divers to sweep both national championships in two separate years, with Wolf doing it three times in 2004, 2006 and 2007. She is now tied with Sutton and Doria Mamalo all-time with four diving national championships, with only Wolf (7) and Kelosky (5) having more.

Clarion has now won the Women's Diver of the Year award in three straight years, with Castellanos winning in 2023 and 2025, and teammate Alexa Gonczi winning 2024. Golden Eagles women divers have now won the award 18 total times. Castellanos is one of five Clarion women to win the award multiple times, with Kayla Kelosky (2009-11) and Jamie Wolf (2004-05, 07) winning it three times apiece. Christina Sather (2018-19), Stephanie Sutton (2000-01) and Aleta Rice (1977-78) all won it twice.
