Clawson Reaches Finals at 125, Falls to NIU's West

TRENTON, N.J. --- Travis Clawson competed in the finals of the 125 pound bracket, highlighting the Golden Eagles' weekend at the 2025 Mid-American Conference Championships at CURE Insurance Arena.

Taking on Northern Illinois's Blake West – ranked 22nd in the NCAA Coaches poll and the top seed in the 125 pound bracket – Clawson was aggressive early in the bout. West was able to fend off Clawson's attacks and counter with shots of his own, taking an early 9-2 lead after one period. That eventually led to a 13-2 major decision for West.

Clawson finished his true freshman season with a 13-12 record, but the story of how he reached that point showed improvement as the year progressed. He won seven of his last nine matches on the year, with five of those wins coming as major decisions.

Also competing for the Golden Eagles on Saturday was Adrian Gacek. He wrestled in the consolation bracket at 184 pounds, losing by 6-2 decision to Lock Haven's Colin Fegley.\

Clarion finished 12th in the conference with 20.5 team points.
