SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles softball team played their second of three consecutive doubleheader days on Friday, dropping a pair of low-scoring games at Slippery Rock. The Rock won the first game 3-1 and the second 4-1.

Game 1: Slippery Rock 3, Clarion 1
RECAP: All of the scoring in the first game came in the first three innings, as starting pitchers Alexsa Hurd and
Ainsley Perdicaris settled in for complete games after early offensive success.

Clarion made the first move in the game, with
Delanie Davison pounding a two-out double to center field that scored
Jordy Best from second base.
Emily Buchleitner moved Davison up to third with a single but Davison eventually got caught in a rundown between third and home to end the inning.

The Rock got that run back in the home half of the inning on an RBI single from Shaylyn Shall, and Hurd and Sydney Brown hit RBI singles in the bottom of the third to make it a 3-1 game.

The Golden Eagles had opportunities to tack onto their run total throughout the game, including a bases loaded situation in the top of the second that ended with a forceout at home and a strikeout. Buchleitner reached scoring position in the top of the sixth inning after reaching on an error and stealing second, but
Kathryn O'Horo struck out to end the threat.

Game 2: Slippery Rock 4, Clarion 1
RECAP: Aubrey Mansfield put the Rock ahead in the bottom of the third inning, hitting a two-run single to left field, but the Golden Eagles got one of those runs back in the top of the fourth inning. With
Haylie Rimmey and Buchleitner aboard with two outs, O'Horo pulled a single into left field to bring Buchleitner around and make it 2-1.

The Rock added a run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI triple by Jessica Goldhardt, and in the fifth inning Mansfield lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to score Shall.

Clarion did have an opportunity to get back on the board in the top of the sixth inning, after Davison led off the frame with a double. Rimmey advanced her to third with a groundout to shortstop but Paige Gresgott ended the threat with a strikeout. Despite two hits in the top of the seventh, the Golden Eagles were unable to cash in against Gresgott.

Desi Allen – who one day prior recorded her 100
th career hit in a win over Pitt-Johnstown – went 2-for-3 at the plate in the second game.
