CLARION, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles wrestling team was recognized for its academic and athletic success in the 2024-25 season this week, with the Mid-American Conference and the National Wrestling Coaches Association announcing their postseason academic honors.
Â
Four Golden Eagles apiece were named Academic All-MAC and NWCA Scholar All-Americans, with three of those athletes –
Austin Chapman,
Ethan Wiant and
John Worthing – appearing on both lists.
Â
 In addition,
Mason Prinkey earned Academic All-MAC honors, while
Gianni Silvestri was named an NWCA Scholar All-American.
Â
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests scheduled or completed in the particular sport. First-year students and ANY transfer in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments for the current season only are considered.
