CLARION, Pa. --- The 2025 Academic All-District Women's Tennis teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Two members of the Golden Eagles tennis team –
Josie Beckerleg and
Davan Lion – were recognized on this year's team. It is the second straight year the duo has made the team.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or older academically and in terms of their eligibility, must maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA or better, and must have played in either 90 percent of their team's competitions or started 66 percent of their team's competitions.
Beckerleg (4.00 – Speech Pathology and Audiology) finished her tennis career as a Golden Eagle in 2024-25, posting an overall record of 8-20 across singles and doubles action. She comprised one of the team's best No. 1 doubles pairs, teaming up with Lion to post a 5-3 record in the top spot of the doubles order.
Lion (4.00 – Nutrition & Fitness) was the top player at both singles and doubles for the Golden Eagles this season, going 6-8 at No. 1 singles and 6-8 at No. 1 doubles for a total record of 12-16. The junior at one point held a six-match total win streak, winning all three singles matches and all three doubles matches in duals with Penn State Altoona, Lock Haven and Shippensburg in September.
