Women's Golf in 4th After 18 at Millersville Invite

KUTZTOWN, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles women's golf team finished the first round at the Millersville Fall Invitational with the best single round in the last two years, putting themselves in fourth place after 18 holes at Berkleigh Country Club. Clarion posted a team score of 337 on Monday, with all four Golden Eagle scorers carding an 87 or better.
 
Leading the way for the Golden Eagles on Monday was McKayla Kerle. She shot an 82 in the opening round, including a 40 on the back nine of the course. That put her in 14th after one round of action. Just one stroke behind her was Hannah Smith, who put herself in 19th in the field with a score of 83.
 
Kennady Norton was just two strokes behind Smith, shooting an 85 that was third-best on the team, while Rylee Thompson was 30th overall and fourth on the team with a score of 87. Thompson had the only birdies of the day for the Golden Eagles, coming in at one-under on the par-three No. 6 and the par-four No. 9.
