LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) announced their first round of weekly football award winners today. Clarion's Zay Brisbane earned PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week honors for Sept. 2 after a standout effort against Wheeling in the season opener.
 
Brisbane was a defensive force in the Golden Eagles' 34-0 victory over the Cardinals, making four tackles and recording four pass break-ups. The Clarion defense limited Wheeling to just 180 total yards of offense in what was the Golden Eagles' first shutout in the span of 130 games, dating back to the 2012 season against Fairmont State.
 
Clarion will head on the road this week to face off against West Virginia Wesleyan on Thursday night. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
