Cross Country Takes Second at YSU Invitational

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Golden Eagles cross country team traveled to Youngstown State on Saturday for their second event of the season, placing second in an impressive field at the YSU Invitational.
 
Freshman Raechel Braun was the top finisher for the Golden Eagles, placing 5th overall in the 5K race and finishing with a time of 19:40. She averaged a 6:19 min/mile pace, one of the fastest overall split times in the entire competition. The next person to cross the finish line for the Golden Eagles was Abigail Butera, finishing 8th overall running to a time of 20:01. Jessica Shelderfer followed as the team's third finisher, crossing the line with a time of 20:45 and placing 12th overall.
 
Emmy Davis finished fourth on the team and 13th overall recording a personal best time of 20:47, and rounding out the top five for the Golden Eagles was Jaidynn Albers crossing the line with a time of 21:36 to come home 20th overall. Chesneee Williams cracked a top 25 overall finish, finishing 22nd with a time of 21:47. Cheyenne Zeedyk crossed the line with a time of 22:54 finishing off the scoring for the Golden Eagles, finishing 26th.
 
The Golden Eagles will be back in action at the Paul Short Run on Oct. 3.
