BETHANY, W.Va. --- The Golden Eagles cross country team kicked off the 2025 season at the West Liberty Invitational on Thursday, placing sixth in the field in Bethany.

Abigail Butera was the top finisher for the Golden Eagles, placing sixth overall in the 5K race with a time of 19:12.1. She averaged a split of 6:12 per mile, one of the top split times among all competitors. Freshman
Raechel Braun had a strong showing in her first collegiate action, taking 16
th in the field with a time of 19:48.0. Jessica Shelderfer was third on the team and 27
th overall with a time of 20:14.8.

Emmy Davis placed fourth on the team and 37
th overall with a time of 20:52.8, and
Chesnee Williams rounded out the top-five with a time of 21:11.1. Freshmen
Cheyenne Zeedyk and
Zoey Thomas finished off the scoring for the Golden Eagles, finishing in times of 21:38.9 and 21:58.6 respectively.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action at the Youngstown State Invite on Sept. 20.
