Soccer Drops Season Opener at Ursuline

Box Score PEPPER PIKE, Ohio --- Ciara DiMauro netted a pair of goals, including a go-ahead goal with 25 minutes to play, but the Golden Eagles soccer team dropped their 2025 season opener against Ursuline by a 5-4 score. The Arrows scored twice in the final minutes to take the lead.

DiMauro posted the second two-goal game of her career, tying her with Andie Hill for the most such performances in program history. The first came less than two minutes after the Arrows opened the scoring on Julia Moroz's game-opening goal. DiMauro chased a chip deep in the offensive end and recovered it before Ursuline keeper Sarah Hendrix could take control, pushing it past her and into the back of the net to even things up at 1-1 in the third minute.

Ursuline took the lead back with two more goals in the first half, with Sarah Gundler and Dora Peszlen adding tallies to give the Arrows a 3-1 lead. Alyssa Aquilio struck to cut the lead down to one in the 35th minute, launching one from long range after collecting a throw in and lifting it over Hendrix's leaping grasp to make it 3-2. Leah Deal stunned the Arrows with her first goal of the season, tallying the equalizer with just over two minutes left in the first half. She also buried a long shot from the left side of the field, beating Hendrix and tying the game at 3-3 at the break.

DiMauro struck again in the early moments of the second half, briefly giving the Golden Eagles a 4-3 advantage. She chased a ball down deep in the right corner and launched one to the opposite end of the net, sailing it into the high left corner for her second tally of the game.

The Arrows responded with two goals in the span of 90 seconds, taking the 5-4 lead on Alexis Ivory's goal in the 76th minute.
