CLARION, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles tennis team wrapped their season-opening weekend at home on Saturday, falling by a 6-1 score to Westminster at Campbell Courts.

Clarion and the Titans split the doubles matches contested on Saturday afternoon, but Westminster took the doubles point with a win by default in the No. 3 doubles match.
Davan Lion and
Polia Vladeva picked up a win in the No. 1 doubles match, beating Christine Rossi and Megan Blasko by a 6-1 score.

In the singles session,
Abby Rodgers earned her second singles win in as many matches, beating Emily Klaus with a tiebreaker in the second set and a third set breaker. Rodgers dropped the first set to Klaus by a 6-4 score, but she came back with a big effort in the second set, taking a tiebreaker by a 7-1 score to tie it up. The third set tiebreaker was a close affair as well, with Rodgers topping Klaus by a 10-8 score for the win.

The Titans won a handful of tight matches elsewhere in the lineup to clinch the team win. Lion came back with a win in the second set against Rossi but came up just short in the third set, falling by a 12-10 score, while McMahan lost a third set to Megan Blasko in the No. 3 singles match.
Taelyn Thomas came up just shy of forcing a third set in the No. 4 singles match, falling in second set tiebreaker.
