Men's Golf Wraps First Two Rounds at UC Invitational

CHARLESTON, W.Va. --- The Golden Eagles men's golf team kicked off their 2025-26 season on Monday, sitting in 17th place after two rounds at the UC Invitational hosted by Charleston on Monday. Clarion carded round scores of 316 and 301 on Monday, improving by 15 strokes from the first to the next.
 
Action will resume at Berry Hills Country Club tomorrow.
 
Freshman Kameron Kerle and sophomore JP Tusai were the top finishers for the Golden Eagles on Monday, shooting 153 and 154 respectively. Kerle posted rounds of 79 and 74 on the opening day of the tournament. He logged one birdie in his opening round of the day, coming in one under on the par-five No. 9, and followed up with two in the second round, on the par-four Nos. 6 and 16 holes. Kerle was just one shot over par after the front nine in his second round, and just two over in the second.
 
Tusai, meanwhile, made a huge leap from his first round to the second. After shooting an 82 in his first round he carved 10 strokes off in the second, coming in at at one-under par on the front nine and making three birdies in 18 holes for a 72.
 
Devon Lauer was third on the team and 82nd overall with a score of 156, shooting rounds of 79 and 77. He logged two birdies in his opening round of the day, on the par-five No. 4 and the par-four No. 8. Preston Stoner was just one stroke behind him with a score of 157, posting scores of 79 and 78.
