Women's Golf 12th After Day 1 at UC Invitational

SISSONVILLE, W.Va. --- The Golden Eagles women's golf team kicked off the 2025-26 season on Monday with the first round of the UC Invitational hosted by Charleston. Clarion ranked 12th out of 18 teams after the first round with a team score of 347, just nine strokes behind King college for 11th place.
 
Kennady Norton was one of two Golden Eagles to shoot in the 80s on Monday, carding a round of 81 to sit in 46th place after 18 holes. Norton was just three strokes over par on the front nine, including a birdie on the par-three No. 4. Hannah Smith also made birdie on the same par-three, shooting a round of 83 for second on the team and 51st overall.
 
McKayla Kerle was third on the team and 69th overall with a score of 91. She made birdie on the par-three No. 2, making her the only player on the day to finish that hole in two. Rylee Thompson was just one stroke behind her with a score of 92 in her first collegiate round. Thompson's birdie on the front nine came on the par-five No. 5, one of only two birdies on that hole in the entire field. Amber Roth also competed for Clarion, shooting a 101.
