Irwin Free 200 Yard Medley Relay

Men's Swimming & Diving Tops Edinboro at PennWest Duals

CLARION, Pa. — The Clarion men's swimming and diving team showcased their depth and top-end speed on Saturday afternoon, delivering a series of strong performances in a 115-90 win against Edinboro at the PennWest Duals. Led by multi-event winner Mason Irwin and a dominant showing in the distance lanes, the Golden Eagles secured several key victories throughout the session.
 
Irwin was the standout performer of the day for Clarion, sweeping the sprint freestyle events. He first claimed the top spot in the 200 Free with a time of 1:50.33, narrowly edging out teammate Dylan Chaky (1:50.41), who finished second in a tightly contested race. Irwin later returned to the pool to win the 100 Free, touching the wall in 48.05 seconds.
 
Clarion's dominance was also on full display in the 1000 Free, where the Golden Eagles swept the top two spots. Connor Hoy led the way with a winning time of 10:10.69, followed closely by George Horey, who took second in 10:15.97. Horey also added a runner-up finish in the 500-yard freestyle later in the meet, clocking a 5:08.86.
 
Richard Scholer had a strong day in the specialty strokes and medleys. Scholer captured the title in the 200 IM with a time of 2:02.03 and added another victory in the 100 Breast, finishing in 1:00.03.
 
The Golden Eagles' relay teams were equally impressive, particularly in the 200 Free Relay. The "A" team of Mason Peck, RJ Schaffer, Henry Miller, and Irwin took first place with a combined time of 1:27.94. Earlier in the meet, the 200 Medley Relay team of Logan Curtis, Scholer, Joey Margita, and Chaky finished a close second with a time of 1:37.93.
