Track & Field Wraps Exciting Second Day at YSU

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio --- The Golden Eagle women's track & field team had a strong final day at the YSU Mid-Major Invitational on Saturday, with exciting performances in the distance events highlighting the day.

Abigail Butera, fresh off recording one of the best times in program history in the indoor 5000m, followed that up with the second-best performance in the 3000m in the Golden Eagle track & field record books. Butera shaved a full 20 seconds off her previous PR in the 3000m to log a time of 10:25.74, putting her fifth place in the field.

Butera jumped Gabby Kutchma, Megan Toddy, Melissa Terwilliger and Tasha Wheatley to sit firmly in second place on the program's all-time performance list in the event, trailing only Clarion Sports Hall of Famer Erin Richard's time of 9:37.1 set in 2009.

The other highlight on the track came courtesy of Abby Stitzer, with the sophomore mid-distance specialist placing 10th overall and third among non-Division I competition. Stitzer ran the second-fastest indoor 800m of her career, crossing the finish line in a time of 2:21.43.

Elsewhere in the distance events, Emmy Davis recorded a new PR in the Mile with a time of 5:34.82.
