LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced their weekly soccer award winners on Monday. Clarion's Sage Sherk earned PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week honors after going 1-0-1 for the Golden Eagles last week.

Sherk made 12 saves on 14 total shots on goal last week, helping the Golden Eagles to a 1-1 draw against IUP and a 3-1 road win at Pitt-Johnstown. She was particularly strong in the tie against IUP, making 10 stops to give her team the chance to earn the draw in the final minutes.

Through last weekend's games Sherk ranks third in the PSAC with 78 total saves, and her .788 save percentage is also third in the league behind Gannon's Alwa Wennstroem and West Chester's Grace Keen. The award winning performance from this past weekend is just part of a long list of strong games from Sherk, who has not allowed more than one goal in a game in her last five outings and just once in her last eight. Sherk has made six or more saves in four of the last five games.
