LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference released their first weekly baseball award winners on Tuesday. Clarion swept the PSAC West awards after the opening weekend, with
Randy Carlo earning PSAC West Athlete of the Week and
Zach Kelly taking home PSAC West Pitcher of the Week. The pair helped the Golden Eagles to a doubleheader sweep of Central Penn on Saturday.
Â
Carlo was dominant at the plate in Clarion's season-opening doubleheader sweep of the Knights on Saturday. The senior third baseman went 4-of-7 at the dish over the course of two games with two home runs, two doubles and seven RBI, giving him an absurd slash line of .571/.700/1.714 and an OPS of 2.414. Carlo also drew three walks in those two games, including an intentional walk in the first game as the Knights refused to pitch to him further.
Â
Kelly, meanwhile, had a strong debut in a Golden Eagle uniform on Saturday, starting the season opener and throwing four innings of one-run ball against Central Penn. The one run allowed was unearned, and Kelly finished his stint having allowed five hits and one walk, while striking out three.
