CLARION, Pa. --- Golden Eagles head football coach
Raymond Monica announced today that Kevin Magouirk will join the Clarion coaching staff as offensive coordinator. A veteran coach more than two decades of collegiate experience, he spent the last two years as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Division II Fayetteville State.
Â
Magouirk fills the position left vacant by Larry Wilson. Wilson was hired as the head coach at Waynesburg in December.
Â
"We're excited to have Kevin join our staff and get immediately to work with our student-athletes," Monica said. "He has a tremendous football background across all levels of NCAA competition, and he's been part of winning programs for many years. I'm happy to welcome him to Clarion and our Golden Eagle family."
Â
"I am extremely excited to be joining the Clarion family," Magouirk said. I want to thank Coach Monica and Dr. [Wendy] Snodgrass for bringing me on board and trusting me to continue the forward path of this rising program. We will work tirelessly to build on the success Coach Wilson and the offense had this past season as well as taking it to the next level. Wings up!"
Â
In his last two years at Fayetteville State, the Broncos featured a high-performing offense under Magouirk's tutelage. In 2025 they averaged 28.0 points per game and were one of the deadliest teams in the nation in the red zone, scoring points on 91.7 percent of their trips inside the 20-yard line. Fayetteville State boasted three First Team All-CIAA selections on offense.
Â
Showing that the Broncos' red zone effectiveness was no fluke in 2025, the 2024 edition ranked sixth in the nation in red zone offense, scoring on 90.6 percent of their trips inside the opponents' 20-yard line. Fayetteville State made significant jumps across the board in Magouirk's first season as offensive coordinator, including points per game (17.8 to 25.2), yards per game (260.8 to 334.7), passing yards per game (127.9 to 235.6) and third down conversion percentage (32.1 percent to 42.0 percent).
Â
Before his arrival at Fayetteville, Magouirk spent the 2023 season as the offensive coordinator at D-I FCS South Carolina State, where his offense ranked fifth in FCS in rushing and #1 in sacks allowed, and produced a Freshman All-American in running back Jawarn Howell.
Â
From 2017 to 2022, Magouirk served as Offensive Coordinator at D-III Methodist, where he led record-breaking offenses and developed standout players like Brandon Bullins, who threw for 8,920 yards in 34 games.
Â
Magouirk's first stint at South Carolina State ran from 2008-12, where he enjoyed fantastic success, helping the team to four MEAC championships and multiple NCAA playoffs berths. Magouirk coached the most prolific passer in South Carolina State history in quarterback Malcolm Long, who finished his career breaking 13 single season & career school records, earned All-MEAC honors twice in his career and was named 2010 Preseason MEAC Player of the Year.
Â
A former wide receiver and running back at the University of South Carolina, Magouirk began his 20 year coaching career in 2001 as the wide receivers coach at McLean High School. He then made the transition to the collegiate ranks as the wide receivers coach at St. Anselm College (2002), wide receivers coach at Lehigh (2003-04), offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Husson College (2005-06), assistant wide receivers coach at The Citadel (2007), offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at South Carolina State University (2008-2012), offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Woodmont High School (2013-2015) and finally as the head coach for the Logan City Wolverines (2016).
Â
A native of Mandeville, Louisiana, Magouirk is a 2001 graduate of the University of South Carolina, holding a B.S. in Retail Management.
