Guckavan Wins 100 Breast on Day 3 of PSACs

YORK, Pa. --- Gavin Guckavan landed the first individual championship of the year for the Golden Eagles men's swimming & diving team on Friday night, winning the 100 Breast at the 2026 PSAC Swimming Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center.

Clarion sits in fourth place in the team standings through three days with 321 points.

In a conference meet where Guckavan has already stood out among the Golden Eagles' top competitors, he finally put a pelt on the wall in the 100 Breast, swimming the fastest prelim time (55.95) in the morning and following that up with an even better effort in the evening. Guckavan knocked another half-second off his prelim to touch the wall in 55.46, putting him one-tenth of a second ahead of West Chester's Kai Hang for the victory.

The Golden Eagles' depth was on display in that race as Dominic Cortopassi earned All-PSAC honors with a third place finish. Cortopassi was just a quarter-second behind Guckavan's winning time, finishing in 55.70 to take third. Stewart Messer (11th – 57.24) and Rich Scholer (15th – 58.14) also scored in the 100 Breast.

Jacob Rider also notched an all-conference performance on Friday night, with the freshman taking third in the 100 Back. Rider's evening final time was consistent with his morning prelim, touching the wall in 49.76 for third place. Henry Miller was third in the B final and 11th overall with a time of 51.44, followed by Mason Peck (14th – 52.65).

Clarion kicked off the night with a third place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. Rider, Cortopassi, Guckavan and Peck posted a time of 1:30.59, less than a second off the second place mark set by West Chester.

In the 200 Fly, Kevin Santos contributed to the team scoring, taking 16th overall with a time of 1:57.04. Connor Hoy won the B final of the 500 Free with a time of 4:40.43, giving him ninth place overall, while George Horey took 16th with a time of 4:55.44.
