PREVIEW: 2026 PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships

CLARION, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles track & field team will start the process of turning the proverbial page on the 2026 season this weekend, as they compete at the 2026 PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at Rauch Fieldhouse, on Lehigh's campus.

Making her final appearance at a PSAC Indoor championship will Madison Foringer, who will look to score for the first time in her career in the Weight Throw. The senior from New Bethlehem enters the weekend with the ninth-best mark in the conference at 14.75m, a program record she set at the YSU Icebreaker in December.

The Golden Eagles will be well-represented in the distance events in Rauch Fieldhouse, starting with Saturday's Distance Medley Relay. The foursome of Raechel Braun, Emmy Davis, Cheyenne Zeedyk and Abby Stitzer will represent the first track athletes of the weekend for Clarion, with another distance runner – Abigail Butera – taking the figurative baton next.

A qualifier in two events, Butera currently sits in placing position in the Mile and the 5000m. Her 5:11.41 Mile run at the YSU Last Chance on Feb. 13 put her into the program's top-five on the all-time performance list and ranked eighth among PSAC competitors this season. Similarly, her 5000m run of 17:57.10 at the SPIRE Midwest Open in January also cracked the program's all-time performance list and put her at sixth place in the conference.

Should Butera place in the Mile, she would be the first Golden Eagle to do so since Lisa Nickel in 2009. Haley Schaller was the last Clarion athlete to place in the 5000m, in 2022.

Action will resume on Sunday, starting with the High Jump and Emily Foster. Foster took advantage of the Golden Eagles' final indoor meet of the regular season, clearing the bar at a height of 1.58m at last week's Mount Union Tune Up to earn a spot at the conference championship. That also pushed her into the program's all-time performance list in the indoor event.

The last Golden Eagle to take the track solo at the championships this year is Stitzer, who will attempt to crack the top-eight for the second straight year. Last year Stitzer placed seventh in the field with a time of 2:20.94, and then went on to take second place in the outdoor 800m with a time of 2:15.51.
