Divers Advance Through NCAA Prequalification Meet

EVANSVILLE, Ind. ---  The divers of the Golden Eagles men's and women's swimming & diving teams passed their first test at the national meet on Tuesday, with all eight competitors advancing through the prequalification meet at the Division II Swimming & Diving Championships.

In advancing, the four men – Ethan Coronado, Michael Flamm, Zakary Kennedy and Zach Schering – and the four women – Luna Castellanos, Colleen Hudson, Katie Madigan and Taelyn Thomas – will compete on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards this week.

Clarion enters this year's championships with aspirations not just for national championships, but in some cases history as well. On the women's side, Castellanos heads to Evansville with four national championships and two CSCAA Women's Diver of the Year honors; should she match her dual national championship feat she achieved as a freshman in 2023 and a junior in 2025, she will tie former Golden Eagle Kayla Kelosky for the second-most diving national championships in NCAA Division II history.

Hudson, Thomas and Madigan all come in with their own significant accomplishments. A senior, Madigan is a six-time All-American that has twice finished as high as fifth, while four-time All-American Hudson placed second to Castellanos last year on the 1-meter board. Thomas is a two-time All-American who placed as high as fifth last year.

On the men's side, Schering will try to cap his own excellent career with the one prize that has yet been missing, a national championship. A six-time All-American himself, he last competed in 2024, taking second on the 1-meter board. Flamm has four All-American finishes to his credit, including a fifth-place on the 3-meter board last year, while Kennedy and Coronado both earned two All-American honors last year.

Diving will commence on Wednesday with the Men's 1-Meter Dive, followed by the Women's 3-Meter Dive on Thursday. The men will compete on the 3-Meter board on Friday, followed by the Women's 1-Meter event on Saturday.

On each day, athletes will compete in the diving prelims at approximately 1 p.m. Finals will start at 5:30 p.m. each night, with diving one of the final events on each night.
