Box Score DUBOIS, Pa. — The Golden Eagles (7-10, 1-1 PSAC) soared to a commanding 10-5 win over Lock Haven (4-14, 1-1 PSAC) on Sunday at Stern Family Field. Clarion's bats came alive in the fifth and sixth innings, where they put up 10 runs, including three round-trippers, to clinch the victory.
The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was halted due to persistent storms in the area. Clarion led 5-0 in the top of the third inning with no outs. The game will be resumed at a later date and time to be determined.
Lock Haven struck first in the third inning when Braden Cummings crossed the plate on Kellen Jackson's RBI single, giving them a 1-0 edge.
Clarion answered back with authority in the fifth.
Tyler Boraski started things off with a single and moved to second on
Jon Fijalkowski's sacrifice bunt.
Tyson Gill's RBI single brought Boraski home, leveling the score. A wild pitch pushed Gill to third, and
Randy Carlo's single drove him in.
Ethan Giangiulio then launched a two-run homer, putting Clarion ahead 4-1.
In the sixth, Lock Haven chipped away with a two-run homer by Cayden Robertson. But Clarion widened the gap in their half of the frame.
Jacob Patterson doubled and scored on
Derek Smail's two-run homer. Lock Haven's defensive miscues kept Clarion's momentum going, and Carlo smacked a two-run homer, leaving the Golden Eagles with a 10-3 lead.
Lock Haven added two more in the seventh, but the Golden Eagles held firm. The game wrapped up with Clarion claiming a 10-5 victory over the Bald Eagles.
Luke Pietrandrea took the mound for 6 innings, yielding 5 hits and 3 earned runs, while striking out eight. He threw 99 pitches, 62 for strikes.
Carlo led the charge for Clarion, belting a home run and driving in three runs, with two hits and two runs scored. Giangiulio added a homer with two RBIs and a walk. Smail chipped in with a homer and two RBIs, scoring once. Gill had two hits, including a double, scored a run, and picked up an RBI.
